Astitva is a malayalam romantic comedy film released in 2017 in india. It was directed by Shaji Kailas and produced by Antony Perumbavoor, with both playing the lead roles. The film stars Mammootty and Parvathy Omanakuttan in lead roles with Mohanlal appearing as a supporting actor. The film is based on the life of two young people who move from Kerala to Delhi for their education .The movie talks about how they get involved with their respective worlds through culture shock which leads them to developing feelings for each other. The movie was dubbed into Hindi and released under the title "Jindua". The global rights of the film was bagged by Dharma Productions which also distributed the film in China. A sequel to Astitva, titled "Nuna" is currently in production and is expected to be released in 2018. The cast of the movie includes Mamootty, Parvathy, Namitha Pramod and veteran actor Mohanlal in the lead role roles. The movie is based on a college student who falls in love with her classmate when she studies abroad. Mammootty signed up for this movie which marks his 15th collaboration with Antony Perumbavoor after two decades since their debut film "Namukku Parkkan".
The entire film is shot in Kollam, following the story of two friends and budding beautiful artist and an independent artist. Mammootty and Parvathy share a beautiful love story like the characters they played in their debut movie "Namukku Parkkan", which was released almost 20 years ago. The filming was held at Thrikkakara, Pallikaranai and also some portions were also shot in Kochi, Trivandrum and Alappuzha. Following the success of Astitva, many more locations have been added to the list for the film. The film is composed by Sathyan Anthikkad who has composed for movies like "Sirjusala" and "Arisaal". The songs of this movie are sung by Jassie Gift, Sanusha and Chitra. "Namukku Parkkan" was the first movie in which Mammootty worked with Antony Perumbavoor after a gap of almost two decades. Originally, he was supposed to appear in a cameo role but it got extended to a pivotal role eventually. In an interview, Antony Perumbavoor said that he needed Mammootty for this project since 20 years had passed from the time they last worked together in "Namukku Parkkan". He added that Mammootty and Antony were good friends and they would meet often in Delhi and Mumbai for fun events. The movie is one of the most awaited films of the year and after the success of "Astitva", many people think that Mammootty's upcoming movie will be a big hit too. The film was well received by all age groups who watched it. The songs were composed by Sathyan Anthikkad, while Siddique handled the lyrics for all songs. The album consists of 5 tracks including an instrumental.
